Two rescued from Mohawk Road apartment Fire

Hamilton fire were summoned to a six story apartment building on Mohawk Road  at approximately 10:25 a.m. Friday. When they got there firefighters went to the third floor where smoke was seen in the hallway. The crews then initiated a search to find the source of the smoke and soon located a fire in one of the apartments.. During search and rescue operations, firefighters located a person in the fire apartment and rescued them, and later found a second person. Both were rendered first aid and transported to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.  The fire in the third floor apartment was quickly brought under control. The apartment sustained significant fire and smoke damage. Current estimates are in excess of $80,000. No other injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
