Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders to step down

Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders announced his retirement today. He will step down from the post at the end of August in a career that spanned 37 years. Saunders had just had his contract renewed for one year, and for that reason Toronto Police Association President Mike MacCormack said he was not surprised that Sanders was retiring. Just this past weekend, Saunders had gained widespread praise for taking a knee in a Black Lives Matter March.
