Hamilton Police have arrested a 16-year-old youth wanted for the 2nd degree murder of 38-year-old Danielle Strauss of Hamilton.
On Thursday, November 10, 2022, at approximately 11:00 a.m., police responded to 195 Ferguson Avenue North in Hamilton for reports of a deceased 38-year-old female who was found in her apartment. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
In December Police arrested two 16-year-old males and charged them with 2nd degree murder, and two adult females who were charged with being an accessory after the fact.
On December 31, 2022, Homicide detectives were made aware that the 16-year-old fugitive was enroute back to Canada from Czcehia. He was arrested without incident at Pearson International Airport later that day.
Hamilton Police Service were assisted in recovering the youth by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), RCMP Interpol services, Global Affairs Canada and the Peel Regional Police Service.
The youth had a brief court appearance and has been remanded into custody.
The cause of death is not being released as it remains evidence. Given the age of the suspects and the fact the case is before the courts, additional information will not be shared.
