“Strong Mayor” system topic of discussion on Bill Kelly Show

When the legislature resumes sitting in August, one item that will be on the Ford government’s agenda right after passing the budget, will be Premier Doug Ford’s proposal to institute a “strong mayor” system, where among other changes, it would require a two-thirds majority of councillors to overturn a proposal put forward by the mayor. At this point Ford is only suggesting the solution apply to Toronto and Ottawa, but it leads to speculation of whether such a move might spread to other communities like Hamilton. That.
