Stoney Creek homeowner tails thieves to motel

Thanks to an enterprising homeowner police were able to break up a burglary operation in Stoney Creek. Hamilton Police say an out of town couple they collared are related to a string of break and enter incidents. The owner of a home in the area of Queenston Road and Pottruff Road North returned home last week just  in time to see a man leaving his residence after breaking in. He followed the male to a local motel and contacted police. The suspect left the motel prior to police arrival and was at a jewelry buyer store trying to fence some stolen goods. Police arrested him while in the act of selling some of the recently stolen property. He was also found to be in possession of a large amount of American currency, jewelry and identification not belonging to him.

Detectives got a search warrant for the motel room, and there, located additional stolen property which also included electronic devices belonging to the Waterloo Regional School Board and other items that proved to be the fruit of another break and enter in the city of Hamilton.

Jecenta Duffy, 34-years-of-age from Cambridge was arrested on a charge of failure to comply with and undertaking. Her male companion Randy Hall, male, 33-years-of-age from Brantford faces a string of charges including breaking and entering. possession of stolen property, probation violation and identity theft.
