Royal Bank closing some area Branches due to COVID 19

Several branches of the Royal Bank in Hamilton and Burlington have been closed in response to the COVID19 epidemic. Other branches will see their hours of operation reduced. A release by RBC stated: “Following the recommendations of public health authorities, we have taken special measures to support the safety of our clients, employees and the community, including:

•             Temporarily closing some of our branches

•             Reducing hours at most locations

•             Controlling branch access, limiting the number of clients entering at any given time

•             Providing priority access to seniors, expectant mothers, and people at increased risk during open hours

The statement urges those customers who must go to a branchs to limit their visits for urgent matters that must be done in-person. “We recommend that you first check our branch locator tool to confirm that your preferred branch is open and the corresponding hours of operation. Alternatively you can use our online booking tool to schedule a time to speak with a branch advisor by phone. “

The branches that are closed are:

  • Locke & Main, 65 Locke St S. Hamilton
  • RBC On Campus, Mcmaster University, 1280 Main St W          Hamilton
  • Rymal Square, 545 Rymal Rd E, Hamilton
  • St Elizabeth Village, 393 Rymal Rd, Hamilton
  • Harvard Square Shopping Centre, 801 Mohawk Rd W, Hamilton
  • Rymal Rd & Terryberry Rd, 2166 Rymal Rd E, Hannon
  • Millcroft, 2025 William Oconnell Blvd, Burlington
  • Brant & Upper Middle, 2201 Brant St, Burlington
  • Lakeshore & Pearl, 360 Pearl St,        Burlington
  • East Plains & Waterdown Rd, 15 Plains Rd E, Burlington

  • Take another look. Royal has permantely closed branches. Two i know of , One at Main and Whitney and another on Concession and 23rd on the Mountain. Whitney has a for sale sign, I’m not sure about the other. Also of note has Royal leaving Jackson Square downtown Hamilton after over 40 years to move to the 2nd tower of Commerce Place at King and James. Meanwhile back at Jacson Square the Branch has closed mall access and elinated handicapped access to its teller service. (
