Pride Hamilton suing Hamilton Police

Pride Hamilton has filed an application to the Ontario Human Rights Commission claiming damages of $600,000. In a release Pride Hamilton says the funds will “support initiatives, programs, and/or organizations in Hamilton’s Two Spirit and LGBTQIA+ communities.” The release points out that the $600,000 was the same amount spent on the recent independent review  into the events of June 2019 at Gage Park when violence broke out between intruders and supporters of Hamilton Pride.The release argues that Hamilton’s Two Spirit and LGBTQIA+ deserve having that sum awarded “for the trauma they’ve endured as a result of this discrimination.” Full release follows:
