Hamilton Police made quick work in solving Hamilton’s 6th murder of the year. They have arrested 27-year-old David Pryce of Mississauga and charged him with first degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 44 year old Darren Buskey.
Saturday Police arrived at an apartment parking lot at Fennell and East 14th Street four minutes after a 911 call and found Buskey on the ground bleeding. Officers immediately began CPR and the victim was transported to the Hamilton General Hospital where he died. Police said the victim lived at the apartment on his own and that he was not married and had no children. When the shooting took place, police said the victim was with his friends at the parking lot.
Major Crime investigators worked throughout the weekend conducting numerous interviews and canvassing East 14th Street as well as the apartment building. Witnesses were cooperative and officers were able to access various pieces of video surveillance. Thanks to that cooperation police were able to identify Pryce.
Based on the evidence, Hamilton Police say investigators are satisfied there was premeditation involved in the murder. Pryce and Buskey were known to each other through their involvement in the drug subculture.
Hamilton Police are not searching for anyone else in relation to this case.
Police ask anyone with information that they believe could assist Police with the investigation into this crime, to contact Detective Ross Johnson by calling 905-546-3827.
