Ontario Mayors praise COVID bailout

They want to see the details, but Ontario’s Large Urban Mayors (LUMCO) are grateful for the $19 Billion COVID bailout announced by the Federal Government yesterday. Ontario’s share will be $7 Billion. The federal announcement listed a number of priorities for spending the funds, but transit was high on the list–good news for the cities who say their biggest deficit came from the virtual shutdown of their transit systems. Hamilton is facing a $60 Million shortfall, which could rise to $120 Million depending on how quickly the pandemic ends.
