Hamilton Police are investigating the death of a 27-year-old male after he was shot while travelling on the Red Hill Valley Parkway (RHVP).
Police say a driver died of gunshot wounds after being shot from another car on the Red Hill Valley Parkway. Last night two vehicles were travelling southbound on the RHVP. While still in motion, multiple shots were fired from one vehicle, a dark coloured SUV, into the second vehicle, a blue BMW sedan. As a result, two individuals were struck by the gunshots that resulted in serious injuries to one occupant and the death of 27-year-old Matar Abouchere. Matar was driving the vehicle at the time of the shooting and somehow was able to bring the vehicle to a stop on the shoulder of the roadway. The suspect(s) fled from the scene in the dark coloured SUV, exiting the RHVP at Greenhill Avenue. The vehicle driven by Matar Abouchere entered onto the RHVP from the Barton Street East westbound lanes.
Investigators are requesting members of the community who were travelling on Barton Street East, the RHVP or the area of Greenhill Avenue around the approximate time of this incident to contact police with any information, dashcam or security video recordings. Investigators are continuing to establish the motive behind the murder of Matar Abouchere and urge those with information to come forward to speak with police.
