Minneapolis cop and George Floyd once worked together

The New York Post is reporting that George Floyd and Derek Chauvin — the now-fired Minneapolis cop who pinned his knee on Floyd’s neck — once worked overlapping security shifts at a club in the city, according to a local report.

Floyd and Chauvin both worked security at the El Nuevo Rodeo Club on Lake Street in south Minneapolis — and overlapped shifts on popular music nights within the last year, former club owner Maya Santamaria told local outlet KSTP.

“Chauvin was our off-duty police for almost the entirety of the 17 years that we were open,” said Santamaria, who owned the building for nearly two decades but sold it within the last few months.

“They were working together at the same time — it’s just that Chauvin worked outside and the security guards were inside.” Chauvin has now been arrested and is facing third degree murder charges.
