Meet the authors online

The Hamilton Public Library continues to provide services to the community through its online authores series. There are three meet the authors opportunities in the month of June.

The author of Haunted Hamilton tells intriguing ghostly stories that also shine a light on local history. Tuesday June 16, 6PM

This city is rife with stories and author Mark Leslie has collected plenty in his book Haunted Hamilton. Hear local tales of things that go bump in the night, in buildings throughout this city. It’s Hamilton history with a riveting twist. Q&A with the author to follow. A special event to recognize HPL’s valued volunteers. Click this link to join the live event. Jesse Thistle, author of From the Ashes, in conversation with graphic novelist Joe Ollmann. Wednesday June 17 at noon

Indigenous scholar and author of From the Ashes, Jesse Thistle, talks about his memoir, which honestly and fearlessly chronicles his painful experiences with abuse, uncovering the truth about his parents, and how he found his way back into the circle of his Indigenous culture and family through education.  Poet, author and our Writer-in-Residence, Janet Rogers reads from her new book Ego of a Nation. Friday June 19 at 2pm

Join us for a live reading with poet and author Janet Rogers as she reads from her new book Ego of a Nation published by Ojistoh Publishing. Questions and discussion to follow.

Janet Rogers is a Mohawk/Tuscarora writer and poet who was born in Vancouver and currently lives on the Six Nations reserve. She is a radio broadcaster, documentary producer, media and sound artist. She is the author of Splitting the Heart, Red Erotic, Unearthed and Peace In Duress, among others.

Janet is currently the Mabel Pugh Taylor Writer in eResidence with McMaster University and the Hamilton Public Library. Link
