Main Street Mosque receives bomb threat

Same mosque was attacked by arsonist in 2016

Local politicians are denouncing a bomb threat that was made against the Ibrahim Jame Mosque at 773 Main Street East in Central Hamilton Friday. In a news release the Mosque called on residents to avoid speculation and to allow the investigation by Hamilton Police to unfold. The mosque was the target of an arson attack in 2016, and resulted in the perpetrator serving more than two years in jail.

Mayor Andrea Horwath tweeted, “a threat to the Muslim Community is a threat to us all…As mayor it is a top priority to take on systemic racism, hatred and discrimination in all forms.”
