Hess Variety was the scene of a $500,000 fire that ripped through a second-story apartment Friday evening. The blaze was apparently caused by unattended cooking. Before it was over, Hamilton Fire had 12 units at the scene. The occupants of the apartment got out safely.
It was only three weeks ago that the same variety store was hit with a robbery accompanied by the assault of store staff.
