Hamilton Police round up shooting suspects

Hamilton Police have arrested three males, two of whom were wanted for shootings that took place in Hamilton in June 2022.

Monday Hamilton Police responded to a break and enter at a residence in the area of Barton Street East and Gage Avenue North and there they happened upon two men who they had been seeking regarding shootings that had taken place in June. They also nabbed a 16-year old.

One of the two arrested, Alexander La was wanted by Hamilton Police for a shooting that occurred on Sunday, June 12, 2022, in the area of Hess Street North and Market Street in Hamilton, in which two males sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and several vehicles were damaged.

The other adult, Marques Griffiths was wanted by Hamilton Police for a separate shooting that occurred on Monday, June 27, 2022, in the area of Main Street East and Fairleigh Avenue South, in which a female sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Marques Griffiths was also wanted on a second warrant by Hamilton Police for two counts of Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Firearm in relation to an incident from June 23, 2022, on Barton Street East and Melrose Avenue North.

During the execution of the arrest, police located and seized a stolen vehicle, $2400 in cash and seized three guns. The guns included a sawed-off shotgun, a .308 calibre loaded rifle as well as a loaded .22 calibre rifle and over 100 rounds of ammunition. Additional charges are anticipated, pending further investigation.
