Halton Chief Tanner tweet attracting more attention

Earlier this week Halton Police Chief Steve Tanner tweeted a reaction to a comment by NDP leader Jagmeet Singh. Singh, referring to the RCMP arrest of a heavily-armed man who tried to crash Rideau Hall, suggested that if it had been a black man, police would have shot him. Chief Tanner responded with this tweet.

Chief Tanner took some heat on social media, many criticizing him for “going political” by using Twitter but his comments were picked up by national media outlets including the CBC today. Singh accused Tanner of “White fragility” in challenging Singh, at which point Sun editor Lorrie Goldstein weighed in.
