CHCH Reporter Accosted while covering downtown encampment

This morning  at about 10:45 am, a CHCH news reporter was in the area of York Blvd. and Park St N, gathering information for a news story about a tent city located nearby. She was aggressively accosted by four male suspects who demanded she turn over the SD card from her work camera. The reporter complied and she turned over the SD card. The descriptions of the two main suspects are:

Suspect #1: Male white, 25-30 years old, 5’6″ tall, small build and bald head.

Suspect #2: Male white, 25-30 years old with a beard.

The police are asking the public for assistance in identifying these suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact D/Cst Kuruc of the Division 1 Criminal Investigations Branch at 905-546-3821.

To provide information anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit your anonymous tips online at http://www.crimestoppershamilton.com

  • I thought the police had a hands off order. They’re certainly not doing anything about the criminal activities on Ferguson Ave N.

  • check in with Councillors Nann, Wilson and Danko, these are their “peeps”……denizens that the community, Police and fellow politico’s want removed…..but the 3 wise guys know better……they believe an egg salad sandwich and a pat on the head are all that are required to make our core increasingly dangerous and unattractive.. Just look at what has happened to Ward 3 since the arrival of Mattie Green/ Nanny Nann……..Hamilton’s own ghetto. Thanks for stopping by.

  • Is it possible the reporter may not of asked individuals if they wished to be filmed which caused the kerfuffle?

I commend Councillors Nann, Wilson and Danko for their efforts to address systemic problems with the Shelter Health Clinic Network which is failing so many.

In light of the We charity fiasco, it leads to greater questions of the various not for profits who receive public funding that does not allow for public oversight or public input.

A shelter is not housing and they are kicked out first thing in the morning and left to their own devices.

While others call for defunding police and put that institution under a microscope, the same should be done to the shelter health clinic network, they also need to be put under a microscope.
