Canadian unemployment highest in memory

Canadian employment fell by nearly 2 million in April, bringing total job decline since the onset of the COVID-19 economic shutdown to over 3 million. The jobless rate is now 13.0%, up 5.2 percentage points from March. StatsCan chart on how this downturn compares historically:
