Attention Ancaster: Save your empties for Mission Services

In these difficult times, we are all missing our family at St. John’s, Anglican Church, Ancaster the services, the fellowship, and worshipping together. The Outreach (SJAG) Committee is also very aware that we have not been able to gather our weekly food donations for the food bank at Mission Services. We know that those less fortunate are really struggling, and we praise those working on the front lines to help them. There is an even greater need at this time with many more people out of work.

To help raise funds for the food bank at Mission Services we will host a (returnable) bottle drive—empty wine, liquor, and beer bottles and beer cans—on Monday, June 1, 9 am–12 noon. Please save all your empties, ask friends and neighbours for theirs also, and drop them off at the St. John’s parking lot (outside the Great Hall). The committee will load our trucks and vans, maintaining social distancing, and return the empties to the Beer Store. Returns can be made only on Mondays and Wednesdays at this time. All proceeds will go to the Mission Services food bank.  Mission Services is one of our mission partners whose mission statement is: Mission Services of Hamilton is a Christian organization whose purpose is to serve people and fulfill God’s call to Act Justly, Show Mercy and Offer Hope.  For further information please go to their website at https://mission-services.com/say-hello/mission/ .  If you need assistance regarding the bottle drive, please contact Ann Cunningham at 905-648-1433  n_acunningham@cogeco.ca ,  or Bob Patterson at 905-648-6976 rpatterson52@hotmail.com .
