Arrest made in suspicious Ancaster death

Hamilton Police have charged a Hamilton man with Failing to Provide the Necessities of Life in relation to the death of a young women who was found in the area of Kitty Murray Lane and Garner Road East yesterday.

On Wednesday, shortly before 6:30 a.m., Hamilton Police were called for a female that was located by a citizen in the cross walk of the intersection. The female was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased.

Detectives were called to investigate as evidence led them to be concerned with the circumstances surrounding the death.

At this time detectives have charged a Hamilton man with Failing to Provide the Necessities of Life.  The male remains in custody.

The male and female were known to one another.

The identity of the individuals involved will not be released. Investigators are still working to notify the next of kin.

The investigation is currently with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Hamilton Police continue to ask anyone who may have been in the area from 4:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18 or any area residents that may have video surveillance to contact Detective Frank De Vuono at 905-546-3827.

Investigators are specifically looking to speak to the driver of a dark Ford pick-up truck who was traveling on Kitty Murray Lane at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18 and may have witnessed an altercation between a male and a female.

All road closures have been re-opened.
