79 -year-old woman a homicide victim in Durand apartment

Hamilton Police are investigating the city’s fifth homicide after a 79-year-old was found dead in her Park Street South apartment last week. Family members arrived at Gladys Little’s apartment last Saturday after she had missed her daily check-in call. Upon finding Gladys in the apartment, they immediately called 911 and emergency services responded. Gladys was pronounced dead at the scene and the coroner attended. Due to the circumstances found at the scene, a post mortem was ordered to determine the cause of death.

Police were called and the scene was processed by the Forensic Service Branch to assist the coroner with their death investigation. Police questioned other residents of the 20-story high rise in the Durand Neighbourhood and obtained available CCTV footage.

The post mortem was conducted yesterday and confirmed that the death was a homicide

Police are asking anyone from the building who saw or heard any suspicious activity or persons between 1 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday to call the Major Crime Unit. Police are also reminding residents to keep their doors locked and ensure they are taking appropriate steps when answering their doors.

If you have any information that you believe could assist Police with the investigation into this crime you are asked to contact Detective Andrew Coughlan of the Major Crime Unit by calling 905-546-3874.
