5 hours into 2023, Hamilton Police report the first shooting

It only took five hours for Hamilton Police to be called to the first shooting of the year. On Sunday January 1st, 2023, shortly after 5:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to 92 Jackson Street E, the Sankofa Lounge & Restaurant, after receiving reports of a shooting inside of the establishment.   A female was located with non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by EMS to an area hospital.  She is currently in stable condition. 

At this time the shooting is believed to be a targeted incident and investigators are appealing to area residents and businesses to check their surveillance cameras for any suspicious activity around the time of the shooting.

This is the second shooting in the area since the beginning of December, 2022.
