24-year-old dead following crash in Stoney Creek

On the first day of the New Year Hamilton has recoded its first traffic fatality. OPP say a car was travelling at a high rate of speed on the QEW near Fruitland Road when the driver lost control and the car flipped. Two occupants were ejected from the vehicle, one. A 24-year old driver from Brampton was pronounced dead at the scene and the other, a 27-year-old,  was taken to hospital and is expected to survive. Two other occupants of the car were not injured. The accident resulted in the closure of the Toronto-bound lanes of the QEW for six hours.
