A recent investigation by the City of Hamilton into allegations of improper vaccine distribution at one of its pop-up clinics has resulted in three nurses in public health receiving disciplinary action.
The investigation began on March 5, 2021 and was conducted jointly through the City’s Public Health and Human Resources divisions. The investigation concluded that up to seven vaccine doses were administered to individuals who were related to one of the staff members whose actions were later investigated and/or who fell outside normal practice and the prescribed priority categories.
As a result, the City has taken the appropriate disciplinary action for all employees, who were employed as nurses with Public Health Services. This includes action that has resulted in one employee no longer working with the City.
As the investigation involves human resource issues, the City will not release the names of the individuals investigated or the location where the issues occurred.
