Another COVID spike

The province recorded a large spike in new COVID cases overnight with 133 cases reported. There were no deaths. Hospitalizations dropped from 65 to 60 overnight and cases requiring intensive care dropped from 17 to 13, but cases requiring a ventilator went up by four cases to nine. In recent days reporting the new cases are concentrated around Toronto and Ottawa. Locally, 29 of Ontario’s 34 public health units are reporting five or fewer cases, with 21 of them reporting no new cases. Acknowledging the spike in new cases Health Minister Christine Elliott tweeted, “however, with 137 more resolved there is a decrease in the number of active cases. Yesterday, the province processed over 24,000 tests as we’ve now done over 3,000,000 #COVID19 tests and continue to lead the country in daily testing.”
