2 dozen job vacancies at Halton District School Board

The Halton District School Board (HDSB) is looking to fill two dozen employee positions, ranging from caretaker to specialized teachers. Some of the positions  are available to fill  immediately.

Job postings can be found on the HDSB Careers Page.

To apply to posted positions, applicants are asked to complete an online application through Apply to Education. A separate application is required for each job category of interest: Teachers, Principals & Superintendents, ECE, EA and Support Staff, Management & Professionals (includes Child Youth Counsellors).

Says Curtis Ennis, Director of Education for the HDSB. “Each staff member at the Halton District School Board contributes to the success and well-being of students and helps ensure that every student is provided with the opportunity to explore and enhance their potential, passions and strengths. Prepare to be welcomed at the Halton District School Board and join an organization where staff and students learn from, grow with and inspire together.”

The news of the openings comes at a time when Education Minister Stephen Lecce  issued a rare rebuke of the Board over its handling of the continuing controversy of the Oakville high school teacher who wears oversized fake breasts, and has been the subject of public controversy for several months.

“Many families in the community have expressed profound concern with the management of this issue,” Lecce said Monday. So we reaffirm our expectation with the school boards, as employers, that they act in the interests of children and they listen to the voices of families of the kids themselves in various schools, and parents who want their kids to go to school and focus on learning and not have to deal with threats of violence, lockdowns or incidents that are very distracting, and frankly unacceptable, in any school environment in the province.”

The Board so far has refused to institute a dress code for teachers, even though a dress policy exists for students.
