Wellwood presents a monthly support and discussion group for women who have had a diagnosis of gynecological cancer.  Sessions are held on the first Wednesday of every month, 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at Sacred Heart Community Centre, 24 Poplar Ave., Hamilton (near the Cancer Centre.)  Next sessions are September 3 and October 1.  For information on Wellwood programs, all of which are free of charge, call 905-667-8870.

Wellwood presents “KIDS in the Kitchen/POWER-UP” for children living with serious illness in the family.  In collaboration with Boys and Girls Clubs of Hamilton, this is a free six-week series for kids, ages 9-16, which involves healthy and nutritious meal preparation (and sharing) while being helped with homework.  One evening a week, children will be supported in a safe, secure and caring environment, meeting others in the same situation.  Sessions run for six weeks on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m.  Next session begins on September 17.  Parents/Caregivers are welcome to drop in for a tour. SUPERVISED  TRANSPORTATION (within the greater Hamilton area) is provided, thanks to Image Honda/Queenston Chevrolet,  with pick up from, and return to, the child’s own home.  To register, please call 905-667-8870.

The outdoor labyrinth at Wellwood Juravinski House is open on Thursday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. through to the end of September (weather permitting) for self-guided meditative walks illuminated by tealights (and the stars).   The labyrinth is located in the garden at 501 Sanatorium Rd., Hamilton.  Free parking.  For information, call 905-387-9495, ext. 64315.
