Urgent action is needed to end the reign of terror of the drug dealers and violent thugs who have infested  City Housing units on Jackson and Hess Streets. At the same time we need to address some of the policies of City Housing. Why are vulnerable seniors being housed with crackheads and criminals? Why can’t we have seniors-only buildings so these people can live out their golden years with some scrap of dignity? It’s outrageous that women and men in their 80’s have to share elevators with crack smokers and their suppliers who intimidate them and sometimes commit acts of violence. A get-tough policy is needed. Anyone convicted of selling drugs in City Housing property should be evicted and banned from the city shelter system as well. That will force them to leave the city, and start a welcome reversal of Hamilton as the welfare Mecca for the GTAH.
