The Today Show has been on the air for more than 50 years . It’s founder was Sylvester “Pat” Weaver, who, by way of trivia was the father of actress Sigourney Weaver. For almost all of its half century on NBC, Today was the number one morning show in television, garnering hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising revenue. That all changed recently when tensions among the Today “family” surfaced, culminating in the firing of co-anchor Ann Curry.
