St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton’s Women’s and Infants’ Program is pleased to announce the launch of a new and exciting online virtual tour of the Birthing, Special Care Nursery and Mother and Baby Units. This virtual experience will introduce families to the Women’s and Infants’ Program as well as introducing them to the dedicated staff who will care for them during their time in the hospital. To view the video, visit our website at and click on the button titled ‘Having Your Baby At St. Joe’s’.

“Having a healthy baby is the plan of every parent on the verge of giving birth,” says Jackie Barrett, director, Women’s and Infants’ Program. “Expectant mothers and their partners await the baby’s arrival with both anxiety and excitement. We hope this virtual tour will help ease any worry or confusion of what to expect while also helping patients to prepare for their arrival to the hospital”.

The 10 minute educational and informational video is a first for the Women’s and Infants’ Program. This will be part of and is the first element of an information package that will include focused videos on such topics as breastfeeding and labour support, as well as written materials and a telephone information line.

St. Joseph’s Women’s and Infants’ Program is a collaborative practice involving midwives, family doctors, and obstetricians, and also works closely with the City of Hamilton Public Health staff who visit patients both on the unit and at home.
