Long time Dundas Councillor Russ Powers is calling it quits as councilor but left the door open slightly for a possible federal run next year. In a statement the veteran councilor noted “After serving…as your Dundas Town Councillor, Hamilton – Wentworth Regional Councillor and now as your Ward, Councillor on Hamilton City Council for more than twenty-seven years and through nine terms of office,…I have decided to retire from municipal politics. Powers took a break from Council in 2004, successfully contesting the riding for the Paul Martin Liberals, but lost the seat in 2006 to Conservative David Sweet. Later in 2006 Powers was returned to Hamilton City Council representing Dundas. Since his announcement two candidates Marc Rhéal Risdale and Toby Yull, a home designer and journalist have entered the race. They join Danya Scime who signed up In January.
