Joseph Brant Museum is closed for eight weeks as a result of rolling closures during construction on Lakeshore Road from Maple Avenue to North Shore Boulevard.
The City of Burlington is improving Lakeshore Road along the Beachway this summer, widening the road to include three lanes, including a turning lane and on-road bike lanes, and is adding curbs, sidewalks and an intersection with signals.
There will be rolling road closures as water mains are installed, the road is widened and raised, and new storm sewers, a traffic light at the Joseph Brant Hospital parking garage and street lighting are installed.
Joseph Brant Museum is the location of the original home of Burlington’s founder, Joseph Brant. The museum was founded in 1942 and features a large collection of locally and nationally significant historic costumes, artifacts and archival material. The museum will reopen at the end of August.
Ireland House Museum, built in 1837, and featuring guided tours, heritage demonstrations and interactive programming, remains open and is located at 2168 Guelph Line. Visit www.museumsofburlington.com for more information.
