It was “Anchors Aweigh” as Joelle’s and Jeff’s Guyshop took over the Royal Botanical Gardens for a fashion show and fundraiser for Joe Brant Hospital, which included cocktails, RBG Food Stations, a silent auction and guest vendors and entertainment. This was followed by a live auction and New York style runway show. It was the second of two events raising funds to support the purchase of a Digital Mammography Unit with Biopsy Attachment for Joseph Brant Hospital. This state of the art equipment takes x-rays of the breast using digital techniques, ensuring that the community has access to the best equipment and care. This most greatly impacts those who are facing Breast Cancer Diagnosis. RBC Royal Bank and the Grace Clinic were title sponsors for the evening and a slew of other businesses were involved to make the evening a huge success. Dr. Callista Phillips and Breast Cancer Graduate Diane Bentivegna were the featured speakers.

To underline the purpose of the event, eleven “Breast Cancer Graduates” took to the runway to celebrate their positive outlook as they move on from their time with Breast Cancer.

This year’s event raised $100,000 – bringing the current amount raised to $193,000 including last year’s event and a Cash, Fashion and Food Lottery held in January. Those who still wish to contribute can purchase an anchor scarf at Joelle’s in Burlington for $20 or make a donation to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation with reference to #june8forjbh.
