Clarenville Caribous def. by Dundas Real McCoys 3-2 (2OT)
Dundas played host to the 2014 Allan Cup and came away winning the top prize. Darryl Smith opened the scoring for Dundas late in the first period, finding the back of the net at 16:56 of the opening frame. Clarenville would even the score courtesy of a power play goal from Cam Fergus early in the second period, but Smith notched his second of the game late in the period to give Dundas a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. Clarenville’s Cam Fergus tallied another power play goal for the Caribous midway through the third period to once again tie the game, which lasted until the end of regulation and forced overtime. After the first overtime period solved nothing, it was Burford native Randy Rowe who sent home the winning goal at 5:25 of the second overtime period to win the game, and the cup, for Dundas. Syracuse Crunch def. Hamilton Bulldogs 3-1
The Hamilton Bulldogs played their season finale on Saturday night at home at the First Ontario Centre. The season ends with the ‘Dogs missing the playoffs as their parent club, the Montreal Canadiens, were the only Canadian team to make the NHL post-season. With the loss the Bulldogs finish the season at with a 33-35 win/loss record. The game was also fan appreciation night. Nathan Beaulieu scored the lone Hamilton goal, at 8:14 of the first period.
