Experiment with Pastels for Spring

After decades of neutrals, colour has certainly nudged its way in to the menswear world.  Event typically tonal brands have added pops of colour.  There is definitely a shade out there for everyone!

As Spring is upon us, pastels are at the forefront.  They are a great way to ease in to colour, they are classic and timeless and they tend to suit a wide range of skin tones.

Yes – we are talking pale hues of blue, pink, yellow, green, lavender.  These shades are very easy to pair with the items that you own and a soft way to experiment with colour in your wardrobe.

Colour blocking, head to toe pastels or florals might not be up you alley.  While the runway looks encourage you to fully embrace a whole pastel outfit, we suggest that you accent with a touch of pastel to start!

Pairing a pastel item, such as a blazer, shirt or light weight sweater, with your favourite basic hue such as tan, beige, khaki, white, black, grey or denim, will draw some attention to the look, but will remain subtle.  White is definitely a good pairing!

A pastel short can also anchor your look. Even a simple tshirt will do the job. If you want to really ease in, add a pastel patterned sock, a pink or lilac tie (sure to compliment any shirt) or a fun pocket square, bow tie or lapel pin.  You could even consider a shoe with pastel accents.

Pantone comes out with select trend colours every season.  According to this list, the top two Pantone colours for men this spring are Placid Blueand Purple Haze. Subdued and sopshisticated!  You can see by our image how easily these can work with the things in your closet!

No matter what shade you choose, wear the look with confidence – that is the key!  As the temperature rises, take you colour up a notch and enter in to the brighter tones as well. Colour is big!  Embrace it and you will find people smiling at you a bit more often!
