I have just returned from a hormone symposium in the U.S. where I was able to listen to a few of the foremost physicians practicing integrative or restorative medicine; Dr.Sangeeta Pati, Dr. Erika Schwartz and Dr. Ron Brown(from Alberta).

The following information is just a small part of what was shared that one needs to consider and adopt into daily life.

In this quest to fight ageing,it’s not so much to try and turn ourselves into superheroes but more about trying to figure out ways to contain and combat inflammation, which lies at the base of most of our health conditions we strive to prevent or cure. If you look at our nutritional therapy or what we do for our minds and body like breathing for example, we are producing mechanisms used to decrease free radicals in the body, which decreases inflammation. We are working on the one goal which is improving the quality of life.

No type of hormone therapy or any other therapy will work for you unless you have the nutritional components that assist every reaction, remove the toxins and have your organs functioning properly.

For example, a functioning bowel is needed to remove toxins from the toxic environment we live in. If they are not removed they simply build up in the body.

The state of the mind is also most important. We are constantly exposed to stresses;from pain in the body to the noise and people that surround us, the phone ringing or vibrating, the news etc. This causes our nervous system to react and fire which results in the production of cortisol, adrenaline, utilizing magnesium, vitamin B and C. You are using your re-serves of hormones and nutrition a lot faster when you have pain or mental stressors.

The most powerful way to get rid of toxins is to raise the pH of the body.

One very interesting fact is if you raise the pH of the body,the body automatically gets rid of the extra fat. For example, if you exercise vigorously into the anaerobic range you buildup lactic acid, your pH drops and you don’t mobilize a single ounce of fat.

So whether it’s weight, cancer or any other inflammatory condition, the pH has to rise to produce a positive response.

The #1 way to raise pH is to drink 64 oz. of water a day (8glasses). The #2 way is to breathe. You are increasing oxygen and blood flow and distributing nutrients to where they are needed.

Other ways to raise your pH is by eating more plant-based foods. 40% -50% of each meal should be comprised of vegetables.

Animal based products lower the pH. So make these choices wisely by eating lean meat, preferably organic, hormone and antibiotic free. Minimize dairy. Avoid microwaving as this causes the loss of nutritional value in your foods.Avoid processed soy; only eat fermented soy like tempeh or miso. Avoid canned, boxed &processed foods. Stop using artificial sweeteners. Unknown food allergies are also a major cause if inflammation.

You can lessen the severity of symptoms of some high inflammatory disease states such as fibromyalgia, psoriasis,eczema, arthritis, IBS, crohns and ulcerative colitis if you commit to these practices.Having chronic inflammation in the body this can eventually cause several diseases and conditions, including some cancers, rheumatoid arthritis,atherosclerosis, periodontitis,and hay fever. Inflammation needs to be well regulated.

To be successful in achieving a quality of life you wish for, this introduction to decreasing inflammation and eliminating toxins must be part of your everyday life.
