Best Known for the highest-rated Canadian comedy series, Corner Gas, writer and comedian Brent Butt will be in Burlington Thursday, January 17th at 8pm, at The Burlington Performing Arts Centre. Corner Gas, became an instant hit earning an International Emmy Award nomination, and being named Funniest Show on TV by TV Guide readers. The sitcom went on to become Canada’s #1 comedy, was broadcast in over 26 countries, and aired for six seasons. Brent later created a second sitcom called Hiccups, which starred himself and Nancy Robertson. The show aired for two seasons and won multiple LEO awards.

Born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Brent Butt discovered early that being funny was a good way to get attention. At the age of 20, Brent moved to the city to pursue a career in stand-up, and within months he was headlining in Toronto. His stand upcareer includes headlining Montreal’s Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, and his one-hour TV special entitled Comedy Now – Funnypants earned him a Gemini Nomination for Best Comedy Performance. Brent has won four Canadian Comedy Awards – Best Male Stand-Up (2001), Best Male TV Performance (Corner Gas, 2004 & 2005), and Best Writing – TV Series (Corner Gas, 2004).
