The transition of leadership at the Burlington Chamber of Commerce takes place in April of each year, and like spring, it is a time for new beginnings and fresh starts. For an outgoing Chair it is a bit of a bittersweet moment, as I close the books on the last 12 months and at the same time reflect on the numerous accomplishments completed by our board, volunteers, sponsors and dedicated staff with tremendous pride and gratification.

Last year the Chamber maintained its vigorous pace of providing our member with a number of events and programs that have been in place for sometime, and we have also added several new initiatives of value. All are in keeping with our strategic plan and our mandate to provide superb quality opportunities for our members in networking, education and advocacy. The result was evident by the increased participation of our members in a number of those events.

We were also a successful in maintaining a healthy “two way” dialogue with our politicians at all levels. It is worthy to note that in the recent past we had elections at all levels, and we have seen a number of newly elected politicians take office for the first time, as well a number of incumbents continuing with their roles in office.

It has genuinely been a privilege and a pleasure to lead the Chamber through some very exciting times and an eventful year. It will be extremely rewarding to observe the progression with our future leaders coming up the ranks as then keep the Chamber’s objectives on track with future successes and further progression in the years to come.
