There are three athletes representing Burlington at the London 2012 Olympic Games, two of which are swimmers and the third participating in Canoe-Kayak. Their bios are official bios from the Canadian Olympic Committee.
Mark Oldershaw (Canoe-Kayak)
Born: February 7, 1983 | Male | 186 cm | 94 kg
Birth Place: Burlington, ON | Residence: Burlington, ON
Oldershaw will be competing in his second consecutive Olympic Games and this time will compete in the C-1 1000m after racing in the C1 500m in Beijing where he finished 10th.
Oldershaw qualified a spot for the Games after winning gold at a World Cup canoe and kayak competition in May of 2012. Oldershaw also placed first in the Canadian canoe and kayak trials.
In 2011, Oldershaw competed at the World Championships in Hungary and placed in the top-5 and won a total of three medals on the World Cup Circuit. In 2010 he decisively took the C-1 1,000 metre spot at the national trials and collected four medals on the World Cup circuit.

Scott Dickens (Swimming)

Scott Dickens is returning to the Olympics Game in 2012 for the second time after being nominated in the100m breaststroke and the 200m breaststroke.
Dickens represented Canada in the 2011 World Championships in the 100m and 200m backstroke.
In 2010, he would win bronze at the Pan Pacific Championships in the 50m backstroke. At the 2009 World Championships in Rome he raced to a personal best in the 50m breaststroke (27.45).
Dickens won his first international gold medal at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janerio, Brazil in the 100m breaststroke and clocked a personal best time of 1:01.20.
Dickens is married to longtime girlfriend and UBC Dolphins teammate Michelle Landry.

Sinead Russell (Swimming)
Born: June 15, 1993 | Male | 170 cm | 69 kg
Birth Place: Oshawa, ON | Residence: Burlington, ON
Sinead Russell is making her first appearance at an Olympic Games and will be competing in the 100m backstroke event in London.
At the 2011 World Championships, she broke the Canadian mark in the 100m and 200m backstroke finishing 8th and 9th, respectively. She then lowered her 200m time again at the 2012 Olympic Trials in Montreal swimming to a 2:08.04.
In 2010, Sinead gained valuable international experience. She was a finalist in two events at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, a was a member of the Pan Pacific team and World Swimming Championship teams.
Russell made her first senior International team competing for Canada at the 2009 World Championships in Rome, competing in both the 50m and 100m backstroke.
Russell started swimming at the young age of four and holds three National Age Group records for 13-14 girls: both the short course 100m and 200m backstroke and the long course 100m backstroke.
