Summary: Although the Maxima has been long touted as a four-door sports car, there is certainly plenty of luxury to be found for the price. It’s a great combination of both, and it’s what gives the Maxima its unique character compared to the competition.

The 2017 Nissan Maxima has received minimal updates after a complete redesign in 2016. Branded as a four-door sports car, Nissan has packed a 3.5-litre V-6 under the hood that packs 300 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque. Its firm ride and quick acceleration give it an edge against its competitors including the Toyota Avalon and Chevrolet Impala.

Not only is the Maxima fast, but its also very safe. The NHTSA awarded the 2017 Maxima with five-star safety rating, the highest score possible. Following up its IIHF Top Safety Pick+ status back in 2016.

New for 2017, the Maxima is equipped with Apple CarPlay which is now standard on all models. Sadly for Android users, Android Auto is not yet equipped. Also new are the Medallion and Dynamic accessory packages. Both of these options include 18-inch aluminum wheels, illuminated doorsills and a sporty rear spoiler. If a little more luxury is what you desire, the Medallion package adds exterior and interior accent lighting while the sportier Dynamic package offers unique side rocker moldings.
